Cultural Ecological Attitudes in Gita Mehta’s A River Sutra

    Get PDF
One of the sparkling stars in the galaxy of Indian writers, Gita Mehta is the brightest. Her novels are written with Indian perspectives and they are explorations of the tension generated by the east-west encounters. Her novel A River Sutra is a colourful fictional account of India that mirrors Indian history and culture. It connects Indian mythology with various depictions of love in its many aspects. It told through a pen-pusher and his encounter with six pilgrims on the banks of the Narmada. In Western Feminist studies, the woman is always portrayed with a quest for freedom from the urban exploitative society to nature. It is appealing to determine that this concept receives a new dimension in a different cultural context. In this novel, Mehta has shifted her focus from the interactions between India and the west to exploring the diversity of cultures within India. Gita Mehta uses the Narmada as the thread, which holds together the main story and the six sub-stories. The present paper discusses in detail the theory of eco-criticism and it aims at highlighting an understanding of various terms like green studies and nature studies, as well as describes in fair detail, the different subfields of eco-criticism, namely, Cultural ecology, Eco-feminism and Gyno-Ecology

    Health Care Using AI

Breast cancer treatment is being transformed by artificial intelligence (AI). Nevertheless, most scientists, engineers, and physicians aren't ready to contribute to the healthcare AI revolution. In this paper, we discuss our experiences teaching a new American student undergraduate course that seeks to train the next generation for cross-cultural design thinking, which we believe is critical for AI to realize its full potential in breast cancer treatment. The main tasks of this course are preparing, performing and translating interviews with healthcare professionals from both Portugal and the USA. Since the course is offered in Portugal as a short-term faculty-led study abroad program, students can explore the effect of culture on healthcare delivery and the design of healthcare technologies. The learning tests demonstrated student growth for breast cancer treatment in many areas important for the development of AI. In respect to understanding breast cancer care, most students had undervalued the effect of cancer and its treatment on the quality of life of women before taking this course and most were unaware of the importance of multidisciplinary care teams. Regarding AI in medical, students became more mindful of data privacy issues and the need to consider the effect of AI on healthcare professionals

A Medical Analysis for Colorectal Lymphomas using 3D MRI Images and Deep Residual Boltzmann CNN Mechanism

In this technological world the healthcare is very crucial and difficult to spend time for the wellbeing. The lifestyle disease can transform in to the life threating disease and lead to critical stages. Colorectal lymphomas are the 3rd most malignancy death in the entire world. The estimation of the volume of lymphomas is often used by Magnetic Resonance Imaging during medical diagnosis, particularly in advanced stages. The research study can be classified in multiple stages. In the initial stages, an automated method is used to calculated the volume of the colorectal lymphomas using 3D MRI images. The process begins with feature extraction using Iterative Multilinear Component Analysis and Multiscale Phase level set segmentation based on CNN model. Then, a logical frustum model is utilized for 3D simulation of colon lymphoma for rendering the medical data. The next stages is focused on tackling the matter of segmentation and classification of abnormality and normality of lymph nodes. A semi supervised fuzzy logic algorithm for clustering is used for segmentation, whereas bee herd optimization algorithm with scale down for employed to intensify corresponding classifier rate of detection. Finally, classification is performed using Deep residual Boltzmann CNN. Our proposed methodology gives a better results and diagnosis prediction for lymphomas for an accuracy 97.7%, sensitivity 95.7% and specify as 95.8% which is superior than the traditional approach

Quality evaluation of noodles from millet flour blend incorporated composite flour

48-54This study presents influence of millet flour blend on physical, functional, nutritional, cooking and organoleptic characteristics of noodles prepared from composite flour of millet flour blend, whole wheat flour and soy flour. Fiber and amylose/ amylopectin ratio increased significantly (p<0.05) with increase in level of millet flour blend incorporation. Cooking time of developed noodles from composite flour (15-18 min) was significantly (p<0.01) higher than cooking time of branded noodles (9.3 min). Mean overall organoleptic score of developed noodle from composite flour was in the range of highly acceptable criteria (20-25). By all means, 20% level of millet flour blend incorporation was found to be acceptable. Mean glycemic index and load of developed noodle was significantly (p<0.01) lower than branded noodle

Extended Dissipative Control for Markovian Jump Time-Delayed Systems with Bounded Disturbances

    No full text
In this work, the result of reachable set bounding and extended dissipative control synthesis of the Markovian jump time-delayed system is studied subject to stochastic actuator failures and partially known transition probabilities. Specifically, a novel actuator fault model is designed, in which the actuator fault matrix satisfies a certain probabilistic condition. Under the construction of an appropriate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional (LKF), as well as reciprocal convex approach, Jensen’s integral inequality, and reachable set lemma, delay-dependent sufficient criteria are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for finding an ellipsoid to bound the reachable sets of the Markovian jump time-delayed system with bounded disturbances. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy
